Fasting and Prayers
Dan 10:2-3
2. In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks.
3. I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled. NKJV
Dry Fast
“Purposeful consecration to seek God and denying self from meals on the basis of your Strength”
Abstain from main meals (carbohydrates especially) over the period of 7days but continue to
- Drink fluids to ensure the body functions normal.
- May eat some fruits & nuts e.g. Bananas, nuts to not only some energy but essential minerals that keep the body going.
If you are not able to do this for any personal reason (fasting should not be legalistic), you may follow any of the following
- Fast daily till 6pm daily and take fluids as mentioned above.
- Minimum is to fast till about 3pm.
If however on health grounds you are not in a position to do this fast, please don’t be under pressure to fast.
Esther 4:16
16 Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish

Preparation Tips
Before the fast begins, the body and mind need be prepared for maximum benefit and health.
- Come off tea, coffee, fizzy drinks and replace with plain water.
- Stop snacking and reduce meal quantity & frequency.
- Do a day fast now and again if you have not fasted in awhile.
- Decide on what you will deny yourself from (e.g. TV soaps, games
- Set time goals for prayer & study of the word expecting to take notes of what is learnt.
- Meditate on the benefit of fasting and ask God for grace.
- Make declaration about your expectations ahead of the fast
