May 18th I Will Lead You
Bible Reading: 1 Jn 4:17; Jn 8:12
Rms 8:14 “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God”.
When I was a child I would play blind man’s bluff where we’d tie a handkerchief around our eyes and then try and find the other kids. It was great fun but pretty difficult as one kept stumbling over furniture and bumping into walls etc. you see, I was in the dark so I kept stumbling.
Jesus said that He is the light of the world and they that follow Him will not walk in darkness. The world is in darkness, real darkness and without the Lord Jesus we would continually stumble. But, thank God for the Spirit of Lord within us who leads and guides us.
He lights our path so that we can see where we need to go. We can avoid the pitfalls of life as we follow His leading. Ps 23 says that He leads us beside the still waters. This is a place of serenity and peace where we can continue to hear His voice for further instructions.
As we learn to be led we begin to emerge in our Son-ship. That’s powerful, Son-ship! It’s not gender specific so both male and female are included. We can take our place in His royal kingdom as the Holy Spirit shows us how to be Sons. Sons are like their Fathers. We are like God made in His image and after His likeness.
Prayer:
• Ask God to teach you to be sensitive to His leading Jn 16:13
• Lord open my ears and the eyes of my understanding Eph 1:17
Thought for the day:
Sons inherit by lineage; servants work for it and may still not inherit or own what they are working for.
