June. 11th Praying Effectively IV
Bible Reading: Rev. 5:12; 1 Sam. 1:5-13
Ps. 68:19 ‘blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits, the God of our salvation! Selah’
Having acknowledged He is your Father and after giving praise and establishing His will then make your personal requests known in prayer. Let your appeals be made daily and be specific about what you want God to do.
Some prayers are so vague and unspecific that even if God answered, the recipient would not even know He had. Jesus said ‘give us this day our daily bread’ Mat. 6:11. Be as exact or precise as blind Bartimaeus was. ‘So Jesus answered and said to him, what do you want me to do for you? The blind man said to Him, Rabboni, that I may receive my sight’ Mk. 10:51
A few years ago I prophesied during a service about angels delivering twin baby girls to a couple trusting God for children. The lady screamed out loud ‘twin boys’. She was so specific God honoured her and a few months later they had bouncing twin baby boys. You must be precise when you ask for personal blessings.
Banks do not honour authentically signed cheques, even when the account has enough funds, if the amount to be honoured is unclear. Prayer is an open covenant cheque, but you must fill it appropriately with specific faith demands.
Be specific but also sincere. God does not respond to disingenuous requests. Elijah ‘prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months’ Jam. 5:17. Search your heart and ask yourself if you truly desire and have faith for what you intend to present before the Lord in prayer.
Prayer:
i. Think of a personal need and present it before God being specific about the answer you want. Heb. 4:16
ii. Pray for God’s peace to reign in troubled spots of the world; be specific about which region. Job 22:29-30; 2 Tim. 2:1-3
Thought for the Day:
Praying with precision is pertinent
