September 25th Godliness II
Bible Reading: Ps. 128:1-6; Ps. 19:12-14

2 Tim. 2:19 ‘nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: the Lord knows those who are His, and, let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity’
When you live a life of godliness, God will build your life. ‘For the Lord shall build up Zion; He shall appear in His glory’ Ps. 102:16. Holiness is the platform for God to prepare, process and lay the foundation for His glory in your life and ‘if the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?’ Ps. 11:3.
God cannot build on sand. Every high-rise building needs a solid foundation and every kingdom high-flier requires a solid foundation in holiness. ‘Therefore whoever hears these sayings of mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock’ Mat. 7:24
2 Tim. 2:21-22 ‘therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honour, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work. Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart’
It is on the foundation of righteousness everything else in the kingdom is built. Faith, prayer, fasting, giving, tithing and serving are only effective when godliness is in place. Sin is the root of calamity. All evil stems from sin and its consequences. Be free in the name of Jesus.
Prayer:
i. Pray that Christians will walk with great sensitivity to the Spirit of God. Ezek. 36:27; Rom. 8:4
ii. Pray that the Word of God will prevail over governors and governments. 1 Tim. 2:1-3
Thought for the day:
The grace of God is needed for godliness.
